Reuben’s Retreat

Our team here at Platinum Plus Recruitment are collaborating closely with a great charity, Reuben’s Retreat who support families with complexly poorly children and families of child loss.

Desperate to ensure his short but precious life was not in vain, Reuben’s Mummy Nicola started the charity to help other families walking a similar path.

Reuben’s Retreat offers a range of services including counselling, support groups, activity & therapy days, short breaks for life-limited children and their families along with bereavement breaks.

The charity is currently renovating and developing its forever home, the scope of their services will grow and enable them to support even more families in need.

Reuben’s Retreat became the proud owners of what was formerly “Woods Hospital” on the 23rd April 2014.  Originally a 21-bedroom ‘cottage’ hospital it was still in operation as recently as 2011 when part of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Set in rugged moorland just outside the Peak District, the 1.63 acre site had 2 beautiful but dilapidated buildings which would need extensive renovations to transform it into the charity’s forever home.  They have created a 10 Phase renovation plan that would enable them to transform the buildings and grounds as and when funding allowed.

Reuben’s Retreat is being built by an army of compassionate and generous hearts!

There are so many ways to get involved and help their cause, from great big challenges (climbing mountains, running marathons, sky diving…) all the way through to minimal effort and zero cost (Easyfundraising, Amazon Smile and liking/sharing their social media posts).

As with every area of the charity, Reuben’s Retreats volunteers and supporters have played a crucial role in helping them to transform Reuben’s Retreat into a haven for families, and they are so grateful to everyone who has donated their time, skills, knowledge or goods or services to us at no or low cost.  If you would like to be a part of Reuben’s journey or able to help them with this wonderful project, please get in touch by calling on 01457 680 023 or emailing [email protected].
